Our Story...

Previously I had been induced three times.  With Hayden & Marcus I was a few days late and with Noah, a week early because we were traveling.

In all cases, I was offered an epidural at 3cm, which is what I had been at for weeks, so I had never before felt a labor pain.  Some say I'm really lucky, to which I agree, but I still wanted to experience real labor.  Though it happened much later than I wanted, I did get my wish.  

I was due May 5th, my birthday.  As you know, Sebastian was born May 10th.  When you're that late, with your 4th child, nothing is more irritating, then to have everyone solicit their opinions on what they swear will induce labor...though I did try them all!  Still, no success.  

Late in the evening on the 9th, I had a friend of mine work some pressure points in my feet and hands.  That, followed by something private:), FINALLY got things going.  A contraction woke me up at 1:30am, and then another at 4:30.  At that point I sent my mom a message "I think it's happening!"  

I had 3 contractions about 8 minutes apart, and then they jumped to 2 minutes.  My mom was still 35mins away.  There was a bit of panic in her voice when I told her they were getting stronger and only 2 minutes apart.  "AND YOU'RE STILL AT HOME?!"  We called our neighbor to sit with the boys, and we made a dash for the hospital, 30 minutes away.  In between contractions, Sterling and I would ask each other, is this really happening?  Both of us were still in shock.  After 40+ weeks, you start to think it's NEVER going to happen.

So there we were, about 1 mile from the exit, and my water broke!  Thank goodness for the Dickie shorts (I won't be returning) that were sitting by the cup-holders!

We checked in and got situated in our room around 6am.  I was at 5cm.  I had flirted with the idea of going natural (my mother would've been so proud), but I was satisfied with the pains I had had, and that epidural couldn't have come soon enough!  I got it between a 7 & 8 and before you knew it, our sweet little boy was born!

 This is so far, my favorite masterpiece from Marcus.  He copied it from a picture all by himself.  A train carrying animals.

Sterling had the chance to take off work for almost two weeks and the weather was awesome!  We loved having him home, riding bikes, rollerblading, going for walks & to the park, etc.

Like Marcus, Bastian has had bloody stools.  I cut out dairy right away, but this time, it didn't seem to help.  He's 5wks now and I'm happy to report that he is getting better.  A GI specialist informed us that dairy and soy have a lot in common when it comes to this issue, so I've cut soy too.  Dairy, peanuts, and soy.  Seems to be working, and he's growing and doing great, but for a while, he did this before he pooped.  So sad.

We also went to JUMP in Gig Harbor.  This is the only picture I got.  I hate it when I bring a dead battery.  Anyway, very fun and clean place to play.  We went on a sunny day and had the whole place to ourselves!

June 5th, 2011.

Sebastian's blessing day.  I am so grateful to have Sterling as my husband.  He's my best friend, and favorite person in the world.  He gave Bastian a beautiful blessing and what an emotional day for us as parents.  We feel so fortunate to have these little boys entrusted to us.  We are thankful for their love for us, despite our faults.  No wonder we are told to become like little children.  How lucky we are to be their parents!  And how lucky am I to have a worthy priesthood holder at the head of our family?!  Loving him more every second!

So creative.  Can you see it?  They claim the stuff on the floor is actually a house.

This post took so long, it's out of date already.  Oh well.
